VisitPITTSBURGH is the tourism development organization dedicated to expanding the tourism economy across Allegheny County. The organization generates positive economic impact across the tourism verticals of business events, sports, and leisure travel. VisitPITTSBURGH achieves its goals, including ensuring the region of certain economic benefits, through the combined efforts of all team members throughout the organization.

The Role

VisitPITTSBURGH is seeking a skilled and highly organized Project Manager to oversee the implementation of a 10-Year Tourism Development Plan (TDP). This TDP was developed in conjunction with local stakeholders and community organizations to guide Pittsburgh’s tourism economy development over the next 10 years, including but not limited to: Accommodations, Culture, Arts & Heritage, Neighborhood Development, Outdoor Adventure, Workforce Development, and Connectivity.

The successful candidate will report to the TDP lead, the Senior Director, Strategic Initiatives, and be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the TDP, ensuring its positive forward momentum in collaboration with staff and stakeholders. The Project Manager will work closely with internal teams, external stakeholders, and community representatives to ensure the associated projects stay on schedule and objectives are met.

Essential Functions

• Develop and execute a comprehensive project plan for the implementation of VisitPITTSBURGH’s 10-Year Tourism Development Plan, including timelines, milestones, and deliverables, in collaboration with key stakeholders.
• Utilize project management software, preferably Monday.com, to track progress, manage tasks, and communicate project updates to the team.
• Coordinate and oversee the activities of cross-functional teams involved in the project, ensuring alignment and efficient collaboration.
• Monitor project budgets, identify potential risks or issues, and implement appropriate mitigation strategies to ensure successful project deliverables.
• Act as a central point of contact for project-related communication, both internally and externally, ensuring timely and effective dissemination of information.
• Identify and engage relevant external vendors or consultants as needed, ensuring their work aligns with project requirements and meets quality standards.
• Conduct regular project status meetings and provide progress reports to senior management, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and recommendations.
• Anticipate project needs and proactively identify opportunities for improvement, process optimization, or resource reallocation to enhance project outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in project management, business administration, or a related field.
• Proven experience in project management, preferably in the tourism, hospitality, or urban planning sector.
• Proficiency in project management software, particularly Monday.com, with the ability to effectively track progress, manage tasks, and generate reports.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders, including community representatives.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams, keeping them focused and on-task while fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze complex situations, identify solutions, and implement effective strategies.
• Flexibility and adaptability to navigate changing project requirements and priorities.
• Professional certification in project management, such as PMP, is preferred but not required.
