Position: EHS Regional Manager

Schedule: FT
Reports To: EHS Director
Compensation: $140,000-$150,000 USD + bonus + benefits.
Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. More specific salary range for your preferred location can be discussed during the hiring process. Please note that the compensation details listed reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, benefits, pension contributions or additional incentives.

The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Regional Manager serves in a leadership role in the creation, support, and oversight of the implementation of Chemtrade Responsible Care EHS policies, procedures, standards, guidelines and practices at Chemtrade facilities located in their assigned region. The EHS Regional Manager provides leadership, guidance, technical support and assistance to site managers, site EHS representatives, employees and others to facilitate a collaborative approach on implementation of EHS and Responsible Care programs. The EHS Regional Manager is responsible for monitoring and reporting on the performance of the EHS and Responsible Care programs and personnel to ensure performance meets or exceeds Chemtrade expectations. This includes, but is not limited to, providing assistance in training, procedure development, MOC review, audit performance, incident investigation, action item management and completion of special projects as assigned.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or science, occupational health or safety, industrial hygiene, or other relevant field
Master’s degree is preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of related safety management, environmental and/or supervisory responsibility preferably in chemical manufacturing or related environment.
Advanced knowledge of EHS regulations, management systems, regulatory agencies, trends and resources. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
High proficiency in Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Access) and extensive Internet search capabilities.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Ability to build consensus and influence others.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills are essential.
Highly motivated and results-oriented.
Exceptional organization and presentation skills. Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Willingness to travel (30-50%) up to a full week stay for support visits to manufacturing sites, attendance at professional development seminars or training, or other travel as required.
Desirable skills:
Professional and/or industry certifications in environmental, safety, or industrial hygiene Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, etc.
Training or knowledge of Hazardous material response (40 hr. Haz-Mat Technician level) and confined space rescue.
Experience with implementation of Process Safety Management (PSM) programs. Ability to conduct Process Hazard Analysis using HAZOP or equivalent method.
Knowledge of Responsible Care, Responsible Care Codes or other EHS Management Systems.
Familiarity with ANSI, API, NFPA and other recognized industry standards.
Knowledge of databases and ability to use databases for trending.
Knowledge of workers’ compensation requirements.
First Aid / CPR Certification
Ability to adapt to changing list of priorities based on needs of the company, regulatory compliance, and management of risk.
Responsibilities
Develop, implement, coordinate and manage the implementation of Chemtrade Environmental, Safety and Health (EHS) and Responsible Care policies, procedures, standards, guidelines and practices at Chemtrade facilities located in their assigned region. Responsible for coaching, employee development, performance management, and training of assigned EHS department staff. Provide appropriate level of direction and conduct performance reviews. 20%
Ensure company locations and support centers are in compliance with applicable US, Canadian, or European environmental, health, safety, transportation and security regulations (e.g., EPA, OSHA, DOT, DHS, CEPA, TDG, etc.). Participate in incident investigations, hazard reviews, audits, inspections and visits as needed to determine level of compliance. Evaluate implementation of company EHS and Responsible Care policies and procedures. Facilitates implementation of new initiatives and promotes continuous improvement in the Corporate EHS culture. Maintain appropriate documentation essential to efficient operations of the EHS and Responsible Care programs. 20%
Monitor and follow-up on status of EHS and Responsible Care goals and objectives by monitoring status of Chemtrade Global Database reports (incidents, management of change, compliance tasks, quality reports, non-conformances and action items) from assigned Chemtrade locations and ensure adequate analysis of root cause and implementation of appropriate corrective action plans. Verify completeness of database entries and report on status. Compile weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports on EHS and Responsible Care issues incidents that have occurred, upcoming events and other items and status of EHS action items. 20%
Provide leadership in implementation of Responsible Care Codes and RC 14001 requirements. Participate on Responsible Care Code teams. Assist in development and communication of tools, training, and assessment to enable all sites to be fully compliant with requirements of Responsible Care. 10%
Provide technical support and guidance on EHS and Responsible Care issues related to (but not limited to) occupational safety, industrial hygiene, fire protection, process safety management, environmental compliance (air emissions, water discharges, and waste disposal), product safety, medical issues, security, and transportation. Serve as a point of contact on medical related issues involving case management of worker’s compensation claims, fitness for duty, medical surveillance, return to work, and OSHA recordability. Enforce adherence to requirements of company substance abuse testing program. 10%
Monitor and assist with site interactions with regulatory authorities, insurance carriers or EHS consultants. Ensure environmental permits and reporting are up to date. Ensure adherence to applicable permit conditions. Interface with regulatory authorities or EHS consultants on issues impacting manufacturing operations. Conduct reviews and audits to evaluate implementation of company EHS and Responsible Care policies and procedures. Ensure written reports are developed and action items are entered and tracked until closure. 5%
Serve as back-up to EHS Director. Review Capital Appropriation requests to ensure EHS issues have been identified and are addressed within the scope of the project. Be available as emergency response contact and review individual site emergency response plans to ensure potential response scenarios have been adequately addressed and appropriate training provided. Manage and track EHS and Responsible Care budget (within 10% of plan). Coordinate compliance with Department of Homeland Security regulations for chemical plants. Provide product safety support on material safety data sheets (MSDS) for company products and customer requests. Coordinate and oversee site industrial hygiene exposure assessments to noise and chemical agents. Review and coordinate appropriate response to recommendations on Risk Management, Fire Protection, and Loss Prevention audits by Insurance Carriers. 5%
